First Steps to Obedience

Entry-Level Class.

$160 for four sessions of approximately 50-minutes each.

2-6 Students

Through positive reinforcement and fun games, students strengthen their relationship with their dog and gain a greater ability to concentrate and obey around distractions. Learn and practice simple commands, such as sit and down, staying in both positions, coming when called, walking on a loose leash, "Leave it", and more! Furthermore, we'll cover basic learning theory and teach you how to recognize your dog's thoughts and feelings to improve your communication.

Four classes will give you an excellent start to a well-behaved dog that looks to you for direction.

Obedience Comp Novice

Graduate of Obedience Novice with interest in competing

$130 for four sessions of approximately 50-minutes each.

2-6 Students

You’ll work on many steps to build the result that is required for all the exercises. It takes time and practice to communicate with the dog how you want them to stay in heel position on- and off-leash. The figure-eight is a new exercise, both dog and handler will learn. Stand for examination will be taught in steps for both handler and dog. An off-leash recall is the first time the dog is off-leash with the handler across the ring, first taught close to the dog with positive rewards. Each element takes practice with many steps to get to the polished result.

Four classes establish the foundation of a rewarding partnership. Continuation classes are encouraged as it takes time, practice, and loads of love and patience to be show ring ready.

Obedience Open

Trained to a competitive-level of Obedience Competition Novice or CD title .

$130 for four sessions of approximately 50-minutes each.

2-6 Students

The biggest exercises are the retrieve and teaching your dog to jump correctly. When you teach your dog to retrieve, it takes daily work and much patience; this is a slow process. Dogs usually like to jump, so we instruct the handler on working on this obstacle the correct way.

Obedience Open is a huge step from Competition Novice as there are many more skills to teach the dog and handlers. Perfecting these skills will take time.

Four training sessions will start you on your way to competition success. More sessions are necessary to train and perfect Open Obedience skills.

Obedience Utility

Trained to a competitive-level of Obedience Open or CDX title .

$130 for four sessions of approximately 50-minutes each.

2-6 Students

You'll work on a few exercises each class as this will take time to get the dog to understand what you want them to do. The dog has not worked at a distance before in obedience. It takes practice with many steps to get to the final results.

Once trained on the course curriculum, this caliber of dog and handler will be eligible to work toward a Utility degree from AKC.

Obedience Utility is another significant step from Competition Open. There are even more challenging skills to teach the dog and handler. Perfecting these skills will take time.

Four training sessions will start you on your way to continuing your competition success. More sessions are necessary to train and perfect Obedience Utility skills.
